Unit 1 : Testing CD's for qualitability.
It's a wide, open world out there. Cd's seem to come through the door so often, that you don't know what to do with them. We've ended up with a stockpile about a foot high of these free cd's, and the time has come, for vengance to be enacted upon them. In the name of science, of course.
So, out of these many Cd's, we chose only the best. Um...no, we didn't, we chose the first four...
Cd's to be "tested" -
Tomb Raider 3 (demo)
Teeside University Informative CD
Wireplay connection CD
Wireplay connection CD #2.
Apparatus used for severe testage -
Dyed red tree stump.
(Dye red because of the blood of the evil beer cans of wrath.
4 CD's.
Large lump of "Blu-tak".
Air Rifle, with ammunition.
The origional hypothesis...shoot a CD, and it'll shatter...
That's if my brother even hits the CD...that blob of black is where the pellet embedded itself into the Blu-tak...
*ahem*, obvioulsy the sights a little out today...I managed to shoot straight through the middle...
That's better, making the hypothesis complete rubbish...
Yeap, think this little bugger's going to take something hefty to take it down...
So, Lara is added. Theorey 2 - with Lara infront, when the pellet passes through her CD, the bits taken out by the pellet, will get flung backwards into the other cd, acting as shrapnel, and creating mucho damage...
As you can see, the demo cd is made of much cheaper material than the University Cd, and so holes made, are bigger...right in the eye...
Ooh, pretty and shiny...
Near the other eye...take that evil franchising ugly woman...
Theorey 3 - More cd's = bigger mess...
I think the shrapnel effect theory has been disproved...see that shard of see-through plastic, that's out of the middle of the cd...
Hah...straight through every single one...
um...void shot...that rut in the blu-tak is the path of the pellet...
Ha...she looks better that way...
...Eeh that's grand.
Towards the top of that piture is a piece of a WirePlay cd...
...it landed this far away...about 2 metres...
And so, the reuslts:
The University of Teeside Cd came out best, although taking most hits, it retained it's shape, and th holes cut into it were minimal, and small.
Followed in second by Lara. The massive hole in the middle of her forehead shows how cheap the plastic is.
And in last place, the two wireplay Cd's.
So cheap, that two shots, and they shattered.
"Just put me in your cd drive"...ok...anyone willing to try?
So, in conclusion, this unit of AndrewOnline : science, has learnt that, University of Teeside produces top quality informative CD's, both for informative purposes, and for strength...
Whilst WirePlay connection CD's, are cheaper than little birdies going..."cheep cheep"...
